Good
Sports Program
The Good Sports Program is a national initiative of the Australian
Drug Foundation. It has been developed to help sporting clubs enhance
their important role in the community.
GippSport works with clubs to promote the responsible management
of alcohol to reduce alcohol problems, improve the viability of
sporting clubs, and improve the range and quality of community involvement
opportunities thereby available.
Many clubs in Gippsland are involved in the Good Sports Program. You can read about two clubs, the Yinnar and Netball Footaball Club and the Wonthaggi Football and Netball Club, whose stories will explain more about Good Sports.
Some clubs plan to supplement alcohol incomes with fund raising from activites with wider community appeal. Some examples are suggested at the Good Sports web site.
Registration can be made on-line to the Good Sports Program. Once registered, GippSport Project Officers then support clubs to achieve their Good Sports Club accreditation.
As club resources relating to alcohol or drugs become available they will accessible from our Club Development page.
